Methodology
How the score works
The formula
Every entry has one number, and it is a subtraction:
Poop Power = total Poops − total Wipes
The ranking is ordered by Poop Power, highest first. So #1 is the entry people disapprove of most — which is why we say number one is bad news.
A negative Poop Power is not «nobody cares». It means more people defended it than attacked it, and those entries are worth looking at too.
Why a subtraction and not a percentage
A percentage measures proportion; the subtraction measures net volume. With a percentage, something with 3 Poops and 1 Wipe would tie with something at 120,000 and 40,000 — and anything with four votes would sit at the top. We show the percentage too, next to the number, but it does not decide the order.
Ties
When two entries have the same Poop Power, the one that got there first ranks higher. It is written here because that rule decides arguments, and a rule that only exists in the code is not a rule anyone can check.
Free votes
- 3 free votes per person, per UTC day, and at most one of them on any given entry.
- It resets at midnight UTC — not at midnight where you are.
- No account needed — the allowance is the same either way.
- A free vote counts toward the main score exactly like a paid one.
- Free votes never appear individually in the Live Battle.
What we cannot promise
Anonymous voting uses two layers: an HTTP-only cookie and a short-lived, one-way device guard made from the network and browser signals. That second layer stops the easy «open incognito and vote again» bypass, but it is not a person detector. A VPN, a changed network, a different browser, or a shared network can change the result. We also apply rate limits and Turnstile to unusual traffic. We are not going to call any of this infallible.
What we do promise is that the count is exactly what this page describes, that paid and free totals are always shown separately, and that nothing here is seeded, inflated, or edited by us.
Paid votes
- 1 Bathroom Pass = 1 vote. A paid Pass costs $0.10.
- Bigger packs include free votes. They vote the same and count as $0 in every dollar figure we publish. Free votes are spent first.
- Minimum paid action: 1 Passes.
- Paid votes buy real voting power, not a visual effect.
- Only paid actions appear individually in the Live Battle.
- Passes cannot be withdrawn, transferred, resold, or won as a prize.
- The featured entry receives no money and is not affiliated with us.
Two balances instead of one, and the reason is arithmetic. If a free Pass counted as $0.10, someone who paid $50 would show up on this site as having deployed $60 — and the page calling itself «transparency» would be publishing a number nobody ever paid. So we keep them apart: the dollar figures only ever count Passes that were actually bought, and the vote counts count every vote, because every vote weighs the same.
The consequence is worth stating plainly: votes cast will usually exceed dollars spent × 10. That gap is the free votes, and it is not an error.
The mess
Pages get dirtier as Poop Power rises. Below 20 total votes we show a neutral state instead of an extreme one: with three votes, 100% says nothing about the entry and a lot about whoever walked past.
What this is not
This is not a poll. It is not representative, not scientific, and not a measurement of quality, popularity or merit. It is a count of voluntary reactions from whoever showed up, and some of those reactions were paid for. Read it as what it is.
