Uses its trunk as a nose, hand and hose. The two African species and the Asian one are more distantly related than they look.

Adaptable enough to live in cities, where it shifts its hours later to avoid people.

Digests bamboo with the gut of a carnivore, which is why it has to eat for most of its waking hours.
